The other day I had the pleasure of making some engagement photographs of my wedding clients Lisa and Noah at Middle Cottonwood Canyon just outside of Bozeman Montana. For these two, they wanted to feature a special place as the setting for their engagement session. It was here that Noah brought Lisa on their second date for a hike up Middle Cottonwood Canyon. These two have been living in Washington for the last year, Lisa working as a software engineer and Noah working away on his pursuit of a science graduate degree. When it came time to plan their wedding day, choosing their Montana home as the backdrop was a no-brainer for them. These two will be tying-the-knot tomorrow! I’m so excited for these guys! Stay tuned for their wedding photo preview! -M

Capitalizing on a recent break in the rainy weather, I met up with Allison and Matt to make some fun engagement photos of them and their pup in the beautiful Hyalite Canyon just outside of Bozeman, Montana.

Over these last few months, I’ve had the pleasure to get to know these two.

They recently moved to Bozeman from Davis, Montana where they attended school as Ecology grad students. Back during my time working in California newspapers, I too lived in Davis and as we got to know each other, we quickly realized we had many overlapping UC Davis friends and shared leisure activities. We quickly hit it off and had a blast exploring the scenic local landscape during our photo session. These two are great.

And their big wedding day is quickly approaching. I’m looking forward to documenting and celebrating them in a couple weeks for their Springhill Pavilion wedding day! -M

I had the pleasure of photographing Melissa and Sam for their early Spring engagement portrait session outside of Norris, Montana. These to horse loving locals loaded up their team and drove out to a beautiful spot on the edge of the Madison Mountain range for an evening riding around, having cowboy coffee and enjoying a sunset campfire during their engagement portrait experience. I love to emphasize the lifestyle of my photography clients. Working with horses is a shared love with these two and having our own trail ride created the perfect setting for their engagement photos. These two were quickly at ease in front of my lens and we ended up making some great photos that encapsulates their relationship. Below are some of my favorite from our time together. These two are set to marry this summer. I couldn’t be more thrilled for them. Congrats to the newly weds from Greener Visuals! -M

The other day I drove out to the banks of the Madison River to meet up with my friends Sky and Tara for their evening engagement photo session. I’ve known these two for years and this date had been a long time coming. It’s so exciting to see them together as their wedding date approaches. They are so excited. I would be hard pressed to find a better match of personalities. We decided to photograph their engagement photos in a spot near and dear to them, the Madison River. Both are avid fly fisherman and we have all spent many a day together trying to entice the Montana trout to eat. We loaded up Sky’s drift boat and cast off into the current. As we floated downstream, we stopped to make photos along the way. It was an absolute fine way to spend an afternoon – floating a blue ribbon trout stream and documenting the love. These two tie-the-knot in two weeks! I am so excited for them. Congrats you guys! -Mike

A few weeks back I drove out to Helena to meet with my wedding clients Marissa and Tyler to make some fun engagement photos of them at the Old Shooting Range Trailhead just outside of town. These two are great people and will be tying the knot this summer in Virginia City, Montana. In between their busyness working at our state capital, they frequently take walks around the various trail systems around Helena and they wanted to have their engagement photos in one of their favorite outdoor settings. We spent a couple hours exploring the hillsides, playing with their pup and making some fun photos of them. Here are a few of my favorites from our time together. I can not wait for August. -M

Missouri Breaks State Park Engagement Photo Session

A few weeks back I had the pleasure of meeting Dani and John to make some fun engagement photos of them out at the Missouri Breaks State Park in central Montana. These two were recipients of my engagement photo session giveaway contest that I held at this year’s 2017 A Montana Wedding Event at The Commons in Bozeman Montana and they chose to have their session at one of their favorite places. It’s a beautiful spot with a mixture of rocky cliffs and grasslands that overlooking the Missouri River. It was a really cool place to explore with them. These to are all set to be married in the summer of 2018 and I couldn’t be more excited for them. Here are some of my favorites from our time together. -M

Last week I met up with Kim and Preston at the Lark Hotel in downtown Bozeman where we loaded up into my subaru and headed for the mountains to photograph their engagement photos. These two both work and live in Washington D.C. but were in town to finish up their destination wedding planning details and to do their engagement photo session with me. These two were up for an adventure. We drove through the small fly fishing town of Ennis, Montana and we took advantage of the open space south of town where the sunset and the scenic views of the Madison River valley collide in a fantastic Montana scene. Here are some of my favorites from our time together. I’ll be photographing their wedding at the Big Yellow Barn this May. I am looking forward to it. -M

Downtown Bozeman Montana Engagement Photo Session of Kiera and Collin

Last week I met up with my wedding clients Kiera and Collin in downtown Bozeman for their engagement photo session. I’ll be kicking off my 2016 wedding photography season when I get to document their wedding celebration in early January at the Gallatin River Lodge here in Bozeman, Montana. For their engagement shoot, we explored some of the more colorful exteriors of the downtown Bozeman business scene. Cool temperatures and good light made for some nice portraits. Here are some of my favorite photos from our session. Looking forward to January! -Mike Greener

Hyalite Canyon Winter Engagement Photo Session of Heather & Andrew

A few weeks back I got to meet and photograph Heather & Andrew for their winter engagement photo session at Hyalite Canyon outside of Bozeman, Montana. I’ll be photographing their 2016 wedding day at Chico Hot Springs next April and while they were in town for Thanksgiving with family, we found a window of time to drive to the nearby majestic rocky mountain canyon. The snow had just recently fallen a couple days before and now cast a white blanket across the surrounding Hyalite Reservoir and Gallatin National Forest. It was a cool ice covered scene to explore. With the mixed overcast clouds, I was able to play with the cooler winter color palette of the Montana landscape. These two were a lot of fun. I appreciate a wedding couple that is up for an adventure. I’m looking forward to documenting their wedding celebration this Spring. Congrats on your engagement you guys! -Mike

The other day I was able to meet up with my wedding clients Courtney and Jordi from Big Sky to make some engagement photos of them before their wedding happening later this summer. Rainy, spring time Montana weather had unfortunately postponed our two prior meet ups. Alas, we finally found our weather window and spent some time utilizing the green Montana landscape and abundant wildflowers around Peet’s Hill and the surrounding bike trail system. We rode our bikes around to different spots. These two were all about having an adventure. I’m looking forward to documenting their big day later this summer. Congrats on your engagement you guys! -M
